cyanotype on panels
Using photographic materials like cyanotype and xerograph, I render photographs on gessoed panels. Like painting, I build a relationship with a surface—altering, layering, and redacting it continuously—they are created three-dimensionally. This series is about introducing gesture and this back-and-forth process of painting to a medium that is traditionally flat. The material and subject are always in dialogue with each other—the characteristic blue of the cyanotype and sky, and gesture of movement on a surface and clouds.
